Bananas too? Disgusting. I've just started reading about this Apeel coating that's being applied to produce and I wonder if the banana was treated with it, or is it not a real banana. The produce must be labeled "coated with Apeel" or some such language, but don't confuse us with another company of the same name. Gates has his evil fingers in just about every aspect of our food supply.

Those aren't bananas - they are plantains.

How can you tell? It looks nasssty. I bought a package of fried plantains once. They were gross. >>> "LIVE! Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death. LIVE! LIVE! LIVE!" Auntie Mame >>> I never asked for trust funds. They were thrust upon me. Have pity. <<<

That's just what the texture of a plantain is like. It would certainly be a nasty surprise if you thought that you were taking a bite of a regular banana. I'm not a fan of the cooked ones either, but raw is kind of like eating a banana that has been soaked in Elmer's glue.

Plaintains. I'd forgotten all about them. I haven't been in the habit of checking produce bags until Gates bought up Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar and will start using his "Apeel" spray on his apples. At Costco I picked up a bag of those Halo's or Clementines and on the bag (can't remember which) it did say they had been sprayed with some kind of preservative. Another bag did not, and that went in my cart. Also thinking that "made in USA" may not be a good idea. I do check any baked goods I buy for something called Acheta - cricket powder. Mayo is now made with bioengineered ingredients. If I need it, I make my own.
