Here's my own personal situation in regard to inflation.....California resident, so take that into account:

-Food, ex-beef is a mixed bag. Beef is still ridiculous, but chicken and pork has stayed reasonable. Veggies are crazy expensive, so have to shop sales to get any kind of reasonable price. Same with fruit. Staples like rice went through a huge increase, but have somewhat stabilized.

-Utilities. Insane. In the last five years, my monthly utility bill from PG&E has gone up around 150%. Water has increased, supposedly due to "only" cost of living increases, but it seems to increase by at least 10% per year. Ditto with garbage. By way of comparison, I own a rental property in another state and the quarterly garbage bill there is the same as my monthly garbage bill here.

-Gasoline. We flirted with sub-$4 gas for a while, but are back above that now. This is more of a California government stupidity issue than anything else, as they've successfully chased a couple big refiners out of the state and can't understand why that reduces supply. Sheer idiocy.

-Insurance. Another case of pure insanity. Car insurance has doubled over the last five years, as has homeowners. This, in spite of zero claims, accidents or tickets. And it's not just a California issue, as insurance on the rental property has increased dramatically as well.

The good news is that we are printing less money and that Trump seems inclined to stick with that. Of course, that policy will probably not long survive his administration.

I think that utilities will be the hot spot for the next generation. There is not going to be enough power for all these data centers and they are going to outbid us peasants. I would be surprised if a lot of areas don't enact socialized measures to guarantee some basic allotment per customer that will only make things worse. Areas where rooftop solar is really viable will probably suffer less. That's not the case here, unfortunately.

Gasoline is likely to stay reasonable as long as Trump is running the show.

Most food really shouldn't be a big problem, particularly as farmers adjust to the new reality of having to sell into the American market instead of China.

I think that labor is going to be the next major driver of inflation. Our population is not growing and we are kicking out the illegals. We are making it hard and expensive to do manufacturing outside the US. So, we are going to have to pay people whatever they demand to do these jobs, at least until robotic labor materializes (but that requires power, which I already touched on). High cost labor at the root of the manufacturing chain means that prices multiply at the end. Commodity prices will probably level out without money printing, but the cost of improved goods seems likely to go up rapidly more or less forever.
