Costco has an awesome (so far) 4" chainsaw. Battery built in. Runs at one of three speeds. When something isn't really big enough for the real one, this thing is the ticket. Around $70. Recommend.

Charlie was the ultimate prepper and I miss his weakly threads.
I'm not quite sure what is being planned (if anything) by the .gov issuing the be prepared warning. I think I read 30 to 90 days? It is preparedness month, so I'm glad they're pushing that out, but they really should do that earlier in the year.
I'm not concerned about war, but I am a little concerned about things getting spicey after Nov. 3.
I think I'm pretty well stocked up, but not for a long duration like I used to do. I think I'll pick up extra kibble and water this weekend, make sure gas tank and cans are full and start the generator. Don't forget the stabil.
U.S. Debt hits 100% of GDP! Well, it's pretty much over for the Dollar as a Reserve Currency, Bonds will be unloaded by most Nations now Not surprising, Trump ran all his businesses by using large amounts of Debt. Last time this happened was 1946 to rebuild after WW2. [link to 247wallst.com (secure)
People should always be prepped. We had a tornado and a Derecho here in Northwest Indiana August 11th. We had no power for 8 days. I plan on getting a solar generator, and I will get my energy efficient water heater replaced in the Spring. There is nothing wrong with it, but the few bucks it saves me, isn't worth it. It needs electric to function, unlike my previous water heater. We had to heat water on the stove for everything. Other than that, we were OK. I do have a wood burning cook stove and a gel fuel fireplace. Between the 2 of them, my small house will stay nice and warm in winter.
Several hundred paid ahead on all utilities going into winter, and a stout Amazon order of shelf-stable foods and wool socks. The bargains on survival foods are gone. We're told to stock up to clear out old stock and make room for new stock. Stock up now, the prices will be high on the new.
It was a good year for mushrooms, but we didn't have summer. Even snow peas failed to produce. We had night temperatures down to 47, and 5 nights below 54 degrees in August. Blackberries did good! The pears were large and sweet, but had tough avocado skins. The apples turned out small and sour, so we didn't knock ourselves out picking. We will spend one more day picking this week. We have 5 gal. blackberry wine vinegar and 5 gal. apple cider vinegar fermenting away. We can do another 5 gal. of apples.
Adventures in juicers! Bought 3 new juicers this season. The vertical masticating juicer was awesome, fast and quiet for blackberries, but too lightweight for apples. Bought a juicer attachment for the Kitchen Aid mixer. It may be the nut behind the wheel, but it's a babyfood maker, not a juicer.
The best juicer is a Tristar Jack La Lanne power juicer I found new, sealed in its box and from the last century, at the local thrift store for $20. I can drop whole apples and get juice without it sounding like a fucking sawmill in the kitchen. Makes it easy to fill carboys!
Yeah! Awesome hassenpfeffer marinade, sweet & sour grilling sauce for pork, and an interesting twist in salad dressings. Don't want to get bored in the bunker.
Herbal elixirs are going smoothly. Endocrine stimulant for men is bottled. Endocrine stimulant for women is still in the tank. Anti-inflammatory elixir, allergy remedy and Russian fire cider are all holding their own on the shelf. Salves and ointments are good. Dry herbs are packaged and sealed.
When the apple crap is done, I will gather the stray cabbages, turnips and assorted loose vegetables for a new crock of Kimchi.
As for our future I will be a Pollyanna and claim we will have amazing positive outcomes emerge from the present chaos.
