Pentagon officials have noted that while a draft remains a "measure of last resort," the infrastructure for a lottery-based call-to-service is fully operational for the first time in over 50 years.

If the President and Congress were to authorize a draft today, it would begin with a lottery based on birthdays, followed by physical and mental evaluations at Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS).

Go ahead and draft away. FYI--no one is going to show up for WWIII. Nope. It will not be like WWII where MEN (not fagalas) stood in line to join the Marines 50 deep everywhere. Nope. You will not see teenagers lying about their age to get into the military. Nope. And what would be the point after all? By the time you draft, train and assemble a so-called 'army' --the war (whatever kind it is) would be long over. Your bases here would be in ruins. Your ships largely sunk. Some cities vaporized into ashes. Witnessing what is going on in the middle East, armies and tanks and ships are obsolete now. Strategic long-range weapons are now the shizzle. ISR watches anything and everything that moves and then drones swarm in--and soon all driven by AI robotics. Seeing the slaughter of the Ukrainians, nobody is going to willingly show up for that nonsense.
