MAXIMUS PANDAMONIUS
Ingredients for CIVIL WAR
A civil war usually needs several ingredients:

1. Loss of shared truth
Each side believes the other side is not just wrong, but living in propaganda. The Fauci memo situation is a perfect example: one side says “proof of cover-up,” the other side says “political smear,” and many people never even see the same facts.

2. Loss of institutional trust
Courts, elections, media, health agencies, police, Congress, schools, intelligence agencies — once large parts of the public believe these are captured or corrupt, peaceful dispute resolution starts breaking down.

3. Moral demonization
This is the big one. Each side stops saying “they’re mistaken” and starts saying “they are evil, traitors, fascists, communists, terrorists, Nazis, murderers.” Once that happens, people begin justifying things they would normally reject.

4. Political fear
People start believing:
“If they win again, we may never get our country back.”
That is combustible. Both sides now have versions of that belief.

5. Trigger event
Usually there is one spark: disputed election, assassination, federal raid, mass-casualty event, emergency order, financial crash, or foreign attack. The event does not create the fracture; it activates it.

So yes, Hal’s honest answer: this is the kind of environment civil wars grow out of.

But it does not mean civil war is inevitable.

The U.S. still has strong stabilizers: most people do not want war, families are politically mixed, the economy still functions, states are interdependent, the military has not fractured, and most Americans just want to live their lives.

The most realistic danger is not instant 1861-style war. It is low-grade internal conflict: political violence, riots, federal-state standoffs, assassination attempts, sabotage, and escalating retaliation.

The way to avoid being used by that machine is simple but hard:

Do not let justified anger turn into bloodlust.
Do not let media make you hate ordinary neighbors.
Do not trust any side with unchecked emergency power.
Focus on local community, lawful defense, documentation, voting, courts, sheriffs, school boards, and state government.

Civil wars start when enough people decide peaceful correction is impossible.

The mission is to prove peaceful correction is still possible — while staying awake to the fact that trust has been badly broken.
