Thanks for posting this. I was unaware. Local unfiltered raw honey is an absolutely wonderful medicinal treatment of so much. No way that could be reproduced.

But Save The Bees! Fucking propagandist. The honeybee is ONE species and it's from Europe. It is not in trouble. It is agricultural livestock. That is how it is managed and maintained.

Our 4,000 native bees are what are in trouble, and some of that trouble is competition with and diseases from honeybees.

And honeybees are very poor pollinators of many crops we rely on. Where they shine is something like almond groves that need so many of them for a very short period of time.

You want to Save The Bees? Plant natives and stop using pesticides and stop meticulously cleaning up your yard at the end of the season.

I was at a patient's home when the fire department descended on a house down the street. Many sirens and a lot of foam later I learned that a hive of Africanized bee had swarmed the homeowner and dog.

So, there is that. . .

Another interloper. Most of our native bees are loners. They don't build hives so there is nothing to be territorial about.
