Don't know if any of y'all know anything about chopmarks, but curious if you've seen this one or know anything about it. It's about 1/4" square and was on a $100 bill. ______________________________________________________________ I am Brutus. Or, Lord Brutus if you prefer.

Link Never heard of it, looked it up... What Are Chop Marks? Money changers occasionally mark the bills in their possession using a stamp. It allows them to identify the note and ensure that it is authentic when it goes out into circulation. Although the practice is uncommon in the United States, it is common in places such as Asia, Africa or Latin America, where counterfeit American currency is more rampant. The chop mark signifies to people living in the area that the bills are legitimate. Chop marks can appear in different patterns, symbols and colors, depending on the region and exchange house. Why Chop Marks Are Placed On $100 Bills Although the United States itself has become a society where electronic transactions now rival the usage of cash, this is not the case in many developing countries, where cash is still considered king. Many of these nations are poor and neither street merchants nor small shops have the resources or connections to setup up credit or debit card payment systems. Even if they did, many of the locals lack bank accounts and would be unable to use them, and since electronic transactions can easily be tracked and traced by the authorities this would make the vendors subject to taxation, which they would balk at..." The question is... why/how are bills with chopmarks from "developing countries" showing up on CONUS? hmmmmm.. can't imagine >>> "LIVE! Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death. afterthought: what diseases or drugs could they be carrying? fentanyl? "disease X" ?? I'd advise to sterilize that chit and check your stash, see how far back in time they may have been in circulation. >>> "LIVE! Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death. LIVE! OK, so I admit to prowling through the local swapmeets and Asian markets because, you know, things. While I haven't gotten to the point of gloving up, money used goes into a ziploc bag and gets washed when I get home because who knows what stripper's crack those sawbucks have been nestled in. and hand sanitizer, often and a lot of it. ______________________________ Don't pet the fluffy murder cow.

If they can counterfeit the money, can't they do the same to the marks? **************** Does anything rhyme with orange?
