There is some debate as to whether full power loads are OK in the FR-7 or the Model 1916 rifles, which were 2 lug, small ring actions. I don't have an FR-7, but I've shot tons of regular 150 grain .308 ammo out of my 1916's and they haven't blown up yet. All 3 lugs on the large ring action don't lock it up anyway. The 3rd lug is just there as a backup in case one or both of the primary lugs shear off, which is virtually unheard of. And the difference between large ring and small ring is only 1/8" diameter.
Full power loads in an FR-8 are no issue of concern. Those were converted Model 1943 8mm rifles which were the 3 lug, large ring action.
The Spanish Guardia Sevile, FR8 receivers were oringinally made by Fabrique Nationale (FN) and tended to be a little soft FYI. I do not shoot full power loads of my FR8 just to be on the safe side. But the FR8 does make a nice trunk gun BTW.

Photo of assassin's weapon that was recovered. It looks to be a converted military Mauser with a modified bolt handle--but then again it could be a full civilian use Mauser issued in 30-06. Can't tell unless there is a close up photo of the top of the receiver. With a Military sourced Mauser--there's usually the country of origin/destination crest/stamp there. Poland, Bruno, etc. It looks to me like all off the shelf, gun show shit cobbled together. Can't tell if the scope is side mounted (military style) or top mounted.
And, yes--any retard with just a little practice and a zeroed scope to 1.5 MOA could have made a 200 yard shot. I think the assassin was either aiming at Kirk's head or chest--either one. And he did not hold over or under enough--and the round his Kirk's neck. Likely the assassin zeroed his scope for just 100 yards somewhere out in the boonies in Utah. Most likely he was shooting for Kirks chest (holding over a tad too much--being zeroed for 100 yards) as he was not wearing any body armor, just a t-shirt. Also he did not account for bullet drop shooting at a down angle.

FR-8's were made from regular Model 1943 8x57 rifles (large ring, 3 lug) that were made under license at La Coruna in Spain, basically identical to German-made K-98k's of the same era.
FR-7's were made from Model 1916 7x57 rifles (small ring, 2 lug), that were made at a variety of different places, including FN.
The whole oft-repeated trope about "soft steel" is just gun shop/gun show horseshit gossip.

FR8's are nearly all FN's and I was warned about this potential problem years ago. This is an FR8. And mine looks at good as the one in the photo. Purchased it in the 90's for 50 hondos BTW.
I like the little cleaning rope compartment under the barrel.

To me it looked like he was just wearing a tee-shirt and nothing underneath. The guy on Redacted (Clayton) mentioned the deflected round in the video--maybe he's right. Maybe I'm right about the assassin aiming for the chest--and at a down angle, which he didn't know to adjust for, the round flew high/er which it would do. if he was shooting a 30-06, he could have been shooting some standard mil-spec off the shelf rounds from Cabella's up the road. That's 150-ish grain, full metal jacket, shooting at around 2500 FPS which would go through most any body armor--except some of these newer chest plates.

If this was a professional job, there would be no rifle left behind and no photos of any suspects being circulating now. It would have come out of the blue--like lightning, from a greater distance than 200 yards. And all they would have now is pure vapor.
