we're fine a couple of those pics were taken from our back yard.

the pics are all from one fire, the one that was started a mile +/- from us. sheriffs started evac orders.. sirens, loudspeaker, county alert phone calls around 2AM with the GTFO RTFN NOW RUN! business. most everybody else did, many without their cats, dogs, etc and only a few trailered out their horses. it was a traffic zoo which we watched on security cams. there wasn't any point in jumping into that mess.

while that was ongoing we gathered what info we could as it became available. we live next to our little HOA airport and learned that's where all responders were staging. we also have a small, but awesome, fire station just 3 miles down the road, and lakes and ponds all over the place. our lakes are where, as you see in the pics, they were and still are pulling water.

our road is a county road that becomes a forestry trail just past our property. it meanders through the El Dorado Ntl Forest near Tahoe. it was also the only way to access this particular fire and is still being used to fight the fire and to hold the line so it won't burn free into the forest, which would equate to all the way to Tahoe. our mini airport is still the first, primary, and only staging point on our end, where the fire was started.

so we chilled and watched and gathered info and opted to go dark, watch and wait. besides, there ain't no fkng way we'd leave our horses here to die. we'd walk (or run) out on foot first, with the horses if we had to.

at the moment things are looking good. they could possibly, safely open us back up if our location wasn't the staging point. they can't have locals on the road interfering with operations. the frustrating thing right now is that if you go out you won't be let back in. oh well. it was interesting to watch (online) over the next couple days as people that stayed ran out of supplies, animal feeds, milk, eggs, food in general. we just stayed quiet and dark.

bottom line: gonna prep for anything ?.. max it out the best you can and NEVER let people know what you have in that regard. one really good thing that we appreciated was that the sheriff ran a crew of officers 24/7 to prevent looting. it's an issue in an evac situation and frequently the perps are actually locals that stayed. (lock n load situation)

Thanks for the update. It sounds like a very scary situation. And, no, I wouldn't have left my animals nor gotten in the traffic to get out of there. Stay safe.

OMG poodles, this is frightening. Please be safe. Sending prayers. I had no idea it was this close. The previous fire was further away, and I didn’t know about this one.

They should behead these SOBs the second they catch them. Some things just don’t call for justice by law. They call for instant karma.

nothing other than by his appearance he was probably homeless

the sheriff & PD are at odds over the arrest and media reporting. for one thing it's naturally still under investigation and there is one person, possibly more involved, as yet unidentified. SacBee ran a story the next day then pulled it. the man that caught the guy had called the sheriff immediately. the PD responded and made the arrest because the sheriffs were on scene up here assisting the staging for fire assault and evacuation. we're in county/sheriff jurisdiction but PD made the arrest. that seems to be causing issues. clusterfk. and.. the man that called LE also called SaBee which ran the story without information or permission from LE. more clusterfk.

I'll post when I learn anything new. no idea how long that will take. shoot, we just learned the circumstances surrounding the 2014 King Fire a couple weeks ago. WTF. it was obvious & admitted arson and that guy is still in prison. what we learned was that he had been evicted and determined to burn the place down for it. fkng pos.

I'd say keep your eyes open for anything and everything. very dangerous times with all that's going on these days.

Whatever other intel they may have on the possible involvement of another person may be exactly why it got hushed up, maybe even on orders from the feds.
