sunny225Heart Catheterization and Possible Stent?
Anyone had a heart cath done? And a stent put in?
I am scheduled for one next week and I'm really not thrilled with it. Any info, suggestions or advice on it will be appreciated.

itsmeI used to work in a heart unit.
I AM NOT MEDICAL STAFF IN ANY WAY.
That said, we did them all day long like scooping out ice cream. We had some sharp docs and the pt's would be in and out in no time. Home same day I think.
Not to scare you....the only after affect I witnessed was a mild stroke. I guess sometimes when they're futzing around in there a piece of fat will break off and go downstream and cause issues. But only saw that once.
Overall it was an almost nothing issue. They go in, do the job and are out of there, room hoping from one pt to the next. Very routine.
That's my 2 cents. You'll do fine, no worries. Good luck!

JombiOne of my business partners has had 2 ablations. He was in/out/home same day for both. You'll do fine!

forgotusernameHave had 2 caths . The first one was during a heart attack & they put a stent in . Went into the right groin. The 2nd one they went into my right wrist . Wrist was so much faster & easier. My mom had had it done 5 times with stents. Over night hospital stay & no driving vacuuming or unloading washer for 4 weeks was my instructions.

sunny225Thanks, y'all! I appreciate the experiences of each of you and the encouragement you have given me.
I, too, believe that I will be fine. But I do like to hear others say the same thing.

itsmeI see you're posting....things go well or not happen yet?

sunny225I am sorry! I forgot I posted here about it.

It went well. No stent because they are weighing their options. It is in a place where there are multiple arteries in close proximity to each other. I am having no problems - no pain or shortness of breath - so they may try to control it with meds at first, then do stents if it has to happen.
Thanks so much for asking!
