MAXIMUS PANDAMONIUSChins Drops The Hammer
China will not "allow" a US takeover of IRAN in the sense that Beijing strongly opposes foreign military intervention, regime change, or any external interference in Iran's internal affairs, viewing it as a violation of sovereignty and international norms.
A US takeover could install a pro-Western government, potentially cutting off China's access to discounted Iranian oil and investments under their 25-year cooperation agreement. Beijing sees the unrest in Iran (ongoing protests since late 2025) as partly fueled by US/Israeli backing, and views preserving the regime as key to its energy security.
China positions itself as a "stabilizing force" alternative to US "hegemony," using the situation to bolster its narrative of multipolarity (e.g., via BRICS). It has provided indirect aid like dual-use tech for missiles and joint exercises with Russia/Iran, but avoids binding defense pacts.
