He was a Skynyrd original.

38 Special was just a pop version of Lynyrd Skynyrd with all the members and Ronnie's brother.

True. But he left Skynyrd before they cut their first LP.

it was some damn good Southern "Pop" though. They had two number 1 songs on the Billboard 100 of mainstream Rock. Had a chance to see them play several times back in the day, even met the band backstage when they were playing a small venue in DC named "The Bayou", held 1500 at most. Really nice guys. Have an autographed album of "Special Delivery" that I had to special order from one of the mall record stores back in 1979 I think it was, some good music on that one, I call it pre pop. Larry gets some credits on early Skynyrd work. He was the only one with ties to Skynyrd. Jeff Carlisi the guitarist did some overdub work on a song "Truck driving Man" that was found unfinished.

Too many Rock legends are entering their 70's and dropping here and there, get use to stories like this.
